{"id":15931,"date":"2022-03-03T08:39:01","date_gmt":"2022-03-03T12:39:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hidronor.cl\/?p=15931"},"modified":"2026-01-20T13:41:39","modified_gmt":"2026-01-20T17:41:39","slug":"crece-generacion-de-basura-electronica-en-chile-y-latinoamerica","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hidronor.cl\/en\/crece-generacion-de-basura-electronica-en-chile-y-latinoamerica\/","title":{"rendered":"The issue of e-waste generation increases in Chile and Latin America"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/feed\/update\/urn:li:activity:6905132628735864832\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hidronor.cl\/hidronor\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/icono-linkedin-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-15923\" width=\"150\" height=\"40\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hidronor.cl\/hidronor\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/icono-linkedin-1.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.hidronor.cl\/hidronor\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/icono-linkedin-1-18x5.jpg 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Un reciente estudio desarrollado por la Organizaci\u00f3n de las Naciones Unidas (ONU) revel\u00f3 que, en 2019, trece pa\u00edses de Latinoam\u00e9rica generaron alrededor de 1,3 megatoneladas de residuos electr\u00f3nicos, estimando que s\u00f3lo un 3% es gestionada de forma adecuada (porcentaje que est\u00e1 muy por debajo de la media mundial, que es del 17,4%), a\u00f1adiendo que, del total generado, casi la tercera parte de la basura electr\u00f3nica es pl\u00e1stico, lo que supone un grave problema potencial para la salud y el medio ambiente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As\u00ed, el informe concluye que, s\u00f3lo en 2019, los pa\u00edses analizados (Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panam\u00e1, Per\u00fa, Uruguay y Venezuela,) generaron 380.000 toneladas de pl\u00e1stico procedente de basura electr\u00f3nica. De esta cantidad 31.000 toneladas conten\u00edan productos ign\u00edfugos de bromo (BRF), un producto altamente t\u00f3xico que se sospecha causa trastornos del comportamiento neuronal y endocrinos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tambi\u00e9n se incluyen unos 2.200 kilogramos de mercurio, 600 kilogramos de cadmio, 4,4 millones de kilogramos de plomo, 4 millones de kilos de productos ign\u00edfugos con bromo y 5,6 megatoneladas de gases que causan el efecto invernadero.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sin embargo, y no menos importante, el documento detalle que, adem\u00e1s de los residuos t\u00f3xicos que esta basura genera, esta contiene tambi\u00e9n aproximadamente 7.000 kg. de oro, 310 kg. de metales de tierras raras, 519 millones de kg. de hierro, 54 millones de kg. de cobre y 91 millones de kg. de aluminio, los que acaban en vertederos y basureros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Teniendo conocimiento de estas cifras, este estudio busca ser referente para el creciente esfuerzo de \u201cmonitoreo local\u201d que deben realizar los pa\u00edses en el tema de la basura electr\u00f3nica para \u201ccrear estrategias m\u00e1s eficientes\u201d en el futuro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Para aportar a la correcta gesti\u00f3n de residuos electr\u00f3nicos, en Hidronor consolidamos a nivel nacional distintos aparatos el\u00e9ctricos y electr\u00f3nicos en desuso, como celulares o placas madres de computadores que son almacenados y valorizados para que, posteriormente, las empresas realicen un proceso de desarme, donde se extraen los metales preciosos y el aluminio de las carcasas met\u00e1licas. Asimismo, los metales preciosos como oro, platino, n\u00edquel y esta\u00f1o, entre otros, los enviamos a Europa para ser procesados en hornos a altas temperaturas, cumpliendo con los est\u00e1ndares
