In order to continue promoting our good corporate practices in mining waste management and keeping the business and student sector updated on this issue, on Thursday, September 1, we participated in the Webinar \"Technologies and new regulations for proper tailings management miners\u201d, organized by CodexVerde and the University of the Americas (UDLA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting brought together prominent specialists such as Sergio Vilches, a professional from the Superintendency of the Environment's Audit Division; Patricio Cartagena, General Secretary of the Mining Chamber of Chile and UDLA academic; and, on behalf of Hidronor, Pablo Seguel, Specialist Engineer in Services Development for the North Zone of our company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a general theme, the executives addressed the main challenges and guidelines established by the new general instruction for environmental surveillance of the water component in relation to mining tailings deposits. In detail, until July of this year the companies had the opportunity to register all those deposits that met the condition of having started their deposit and had not started the execution of their closure plan, at the same time that they had at least one Resolution Environmental Qualification (RCA) favorable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then, they must continue to advance in the inspection process, taking into account that, in the event that deviations are found during the process (such as contaminated water that has run off causing damage to surfaces), then recovery and sanitation must be carried out. of these lands (among other sustainable actions).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this sense, Hidronor highlighted the management that it currently carries out in the matter, providing concrete solutions for public and private companies in order to face this problem, emphasizing health regulations, its ISO management system and civil and environmental liability policies for the management of these types of externalities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thus, in addition to contextualizing those present with relevant information associated with the generation of hazardous mining waste in our country and the declaration of massive mining waste on the RETC platform, the executive explained in detail the services that Hidronor provides in terms of waste management to mining, thereby achieving the physical and chemical stability of the contaminants present in these residues through the remediation and restoration of contaminated land<\/a> . The management of specific complex waste present in the industry, such as transformers with PCBs, was also addressed, highlighting Hidronor as the only company at the national level authorized to handle this waste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
