On May 17 we celebrated the International Recycling Day, instance in which every year the population is made aware of the importance of the reuse of materials.

In our country, annually are generated 17 million tons of waste in Chile, of which less than 10% is recycled, which is why, at the beginning of last year, the Recycling Promotion Law was established, in order to reduce waste and promote the reuse of six priority products for mass consumption such as such as: oils, electronic devices, lubricants, containers and packaging, tires, cells and batteries.

However, not only large industries can work to reduce damage to the environment, also people with our day-to-day habits, we can make a great contribution, here are some tips to reduce the amount of waste generated:

  • To recycle cans and Tetrapak, you must first wash the containers to prevent gases or percolates from originating.
  • Use returnable bottles to transport water and to buy drinks.
  • If possible, use both sides of the paper for printing.
  • Avoid plastic bags as much as possible, prioritizing businesses that use recycled bags, or else taking your own gender bags everywhere.
