Part of these problems were dealt with in the 5th Latin American Congress on Pesticide Residues, organized by the UC Faculty of Agronomy and Forest Engineering. "The eco-toxicological profile has been improved, which includes that they are more selective with the organisms to attack and that they are even less toxic than some of the antibiotics that are used in man," say the specialists.
The chemical composition of pesticides is not your biggest problem, but rather how they are being used. Although there is still much to do in terms of the safety of those who apply them, and for the health of consumers and the environment, these chemicals are not as harmful as it is believed.
According to Rodrigo Chorbadjian "there is still the idea that its footprint will remain on the planet for a long time, but today we have products that degrade quickly, even in a few weeks" he concludes.
