Well, what this law seeks is “make hazardous waste an opportunity rather than a problem” afirma Pablo Badenier, Ministro del Medio Ambiente. Puesto que, “un manejo del reciclaje produce una mejor gestión de residuos peligrosos, ahorro de energía y materia prima, tal como ocurre en países de la Unión Europea”, finaliza Badenier.

One of the goals of this regulation in Chile is to set a precedent by setting goals for the collection and valorization of dangerous residues, thus creating new businesses and decreasing their final disposition.

En la actualidad, son 36 países los que ocupan la ley REP para la gestión de residuos peligrosos.
