Transport, treatment and final disposal of waste: safety and regulatory compliance for a more sustainable Chile ♻️

LinkedIn

Chile faces a large-scale environmental challenge today. Each year, the country generates nearly 20 million tons of waste, according to data from the Ministry of the Environment, of which approximately 3.3% is hazardous waste, primarily associated with industrial, mining, energy, and service activities. The proper management of these materials is not only a legal requirement but also essential for protecting the environment, public health, and the continuity of productive operations.

In this scenario, the transport, treatment and final disposal of waste plays a key role in avoiding environmental and operational risks, ensuring that each waste is handled safely and in accordance with current regulations.

🚛 Secure transport from the origin

At Hidronor, we offer specialized, authorized transport services for hazardous and industrial waste, operated by equipment that meets strict safety standards. Each shipment is carried out in accordance with Supreme Decree No. 298, guaranteeing proper labeling, traceability, and risk control from the point of generation to its final destination.

⚙️ Treatment to reduce the impact on the environment and people's health

Once received, the waste is sorted and subjected to processes designed to reduce its hazardousness and environmental impact. At Hidronor, we offer physical-chemical treatment of liquid industrial waste, which neutralizes contaminants and, in some cases, allows for the reuse of the treated effluent.

Likewise, liquid and solid waste with calorific value is recovered by transforming it into alternative fuels, which are used by the cement industry to replace fossil fuels, contributing to the reduction of emissions.

In addition, we apply inertization and stabilization processes to solid waste, encapsulating hazardous substances to reduce their toxicity and mobility.

🏗️ Final disposal with high safety standards

When recovery is not possible, at Hidronor we have secure storage facilities specially designed for the final disposal of hazardous and industrial waste, which operate under the provisions of Supreme Decree No. 148, with waterproofing systems, leachate control and permanent environmental monitoring.

📋 Regulatory compliance and country commitment

In a context where Chile is moving towards more responsible waste management, driven by the Extended Producer Responsibility Law (REP Law), at Hidronor we reaffirm our commitment to a safe, traceable operation aligned with the country's sustainability goals.

🌱 Because managing waste well today is key to taking care of everyone's future.
