The enactment of the new Extended Producer Responsibility Law (REP Law) has generated a whole change in how waste should be treated in all industries in the country.

Aware of this, the Agroindustrial Technological Extension Center (CET), revealed the three keys that the sector must take into account to face this new law: Get involved and take advantage of the spaces that the law provides for participation, publicize the activities of the sector in matters of management and waste and organize to evaluate more associative and competitive systems to operate.

It should be noted that the REP Law was enacted in 2016 and its objective is to establish a framework for the management of these wastes, in which producers and importers of elements that have been defined as priority products, must develop the mechanisms to finance and manage these products. at the end of its useful life.

Currently, around 62% of the total waste generated by the country comes from the industrial sector and, of this, 15% is produced by the agricultural and forestry industry.
