On May 18, 2016, the Ministry of the Environment of RM and Denmark, signed a memorandum of understanding, which establishes the bases and mechanisms of cooperation between both countries, regarding environmental issues. Among them are waste management, promotion of recycling, environmental control, promotion of cycling culture, responsible pet ownership, among others.

For his part, Marcelo Mena, Undersecretary of the Environment, stressed that "Chile is moving towards a new identity of green growth, which will allow us to be part of the solution to the climate crisis that is coming."
