Siguiendo la premisa de entregar soluciones seguras en materia de gestión de residuos, Hidronor pone en marcha una planta para transformar en energía eléctrica el biogás extraído desde el relleno sanitario Copiulemu que opera en la comuna de Florida, en la Región del Biobío. Para su desarrollo e implementación, Hidronor trabajó con la empresa portuguesa ENC Energy, especialista en la valorización energética de residuos, que ahora sigue a cargo de la operación.

Gonzalo Velásquez, Hidronor's Environmental Manager explains the benefits and technology that this new plant represents: «What was done before was to capture the biogas and take it to a flare where it was incinerated to avoid possible explosions. The new plant optimizes the gas control system and delivers a much more efficient and environmentally friendly solution, reducing the emission of greenhouse gases as well as the odors associated with the gases emitted by the accumulation and decomposition of organic waste. . For the implementation of the Hidronor plant, it modified the entire biogas capture system, contributing to the sustainable development of the country and the production of clean and renewable energy ”.
