Fifth report on the state of the environment gives an account of waste management and other environmental indicators

The environment ministry published the fifth report on the state of the environment, where 110 indicators are presented, including 13 of an environmental nature of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the 2030 agenda, which include: Waste, Water, Climate Change, Soils, among others measured to the year 2017.

In the case of waste, that year, about 23 million tons of waste, of which 97.3% is equivalent to non-hazardous waste and 2.7% to hazardous waste. Non-hazardous waste includes waste of industrial origin (60.4%), solid waste municipal (35.3%) and sludge from Plants of Water treatment Served (1.6%). Similarly, the largest generation of hazardous waste reported, it was from the Antofagasta region, in which approximately 235.1 thousand tons, equivalent to 37.6% of the hazardous waste generated nationwide. In In contrast, in the Aysén region 790 tons were generated, equivalent to the 0.1% of the national total.
