Organic Recycling Program Agreement, Ministry of the Environment Canada and Ministry of the Environment Chile.

En el marco del Programa Reciclo Orgánicos, iniciativa del Ministerio del Medio Ambiente de Chile y el Ministerio de Medio Ambiente y Cambio Climático de Canadá, el pasado martes 10 de septiembre en las instalaciones de Hidronor Planta Copiulemu  en la comuna de Florida, Región del Biobío, se firmó un acuerdo de colaboración con la empresa ENC Energy para el proyecto de generación de electricidad a partir de biogás del relleno sanitario Copiulemu. La pronta puesta en marcha de este proyecto contribuirá a reducir las emisiones de Gases de Efecto Invernadero (GEI) del sector residuos, aportando además energía limpia al sistema interconectado central SIC.

The activity was attended by the Head of Technological Alliances of the Ministry of Environment and Change Climate Canada, Franck Portalupi, with the Director of the Recycle Program Organicos, Michael Sills, in addition to representatives of ENC Chile, the Ministry of the Environment of Chile and the Regional Government. One of the objectives of the Program Organic Recycle is to reduce the fraction of organic waste that ends up in landfills in different communes of Chile, where it is generated and emitted methane gas, highly polluting for the atmosphere. In that context, Currently the project provides assistance to Santa Juana, Talca, Talcahuano, Rapa Nui and Caldera.
