In December 2025, the Council of Ministers for Sustainability and Climate Change approved a new air quality standard for fine particulate matter (PM2.5)This is a significant step towards protecting people's health and moving towards cleaner and more sustainable environments in the country.
This update strengthens the maximum concentration limits for PM2.5, incorporating current scientific evidence and more stringent international standards. It also includes a five-year phased implementation, allowing for responsible adaptation by the various productive sectors.
