Laboratory services

Thanks to this specialization, advancement and technological equipment focused on responding satisfactorily meet the requirements of each client, Hidronor has 4 types of characterization services:

  1. dangerousness: The laboratory has EPA standards for determine the hazardousness of a waste, such as: extrinsic toxicity to Through the Characteristic Toxic Leaching Procedure (TCLP); reactivity tests; determination of flammability, corrosivity and reactivity; determination of flash point, flammability in solids, pH and corrosion rate measurement; determination of cyanides and sulfides present in waste in accordance with current legislation (DS.148), among others.
  • Analysis of heavy metals in RILes and RISes: This is done at through the application of the fluorescence spectrometry methodology of X-ray and plasma optical emission spectroscopy with inductive coupling for the quantification of heavy metals.
  • Determination of PCBs: Hidronor's laboratory is certified for the determination of Polychlorinated Biphenyl compounds (PCBs). These compounds are highly dangerous for living organisms due to its high toxicity, bioaccumulation in fatty tissues and persistence in the environment. In Chile, the use of these compounds has been banned since 1982 by resolution of the Superintendency of Electricity and Fuels (SEC).
  • Analysis of organic compounds: Using the GC-MS analytical technique, the company can determine the organic compounds that may be contained in a waste, in order to guide treatment alternatives and / or disposal end for each of them.
