With the goal of establishing a new environmentally responsible culture, the construction sector recently launched its Circular Economy Strategy for 2025, based on the national Roadmap defined by the Ministry of the Environment.

The organizations leading this initiative are the Chilean Chamber of Construction, the Construction Institute, and Corfo's Construye 2025 program, guided by the Technological Development Corporation (CDT), which aim to advance towards sustainable, social, environmental and economic development of the industry, through support for initiatives that involve the public, private and academic sectors.

In summary, this Strategy focuses on six pivots, which are:

  • Collaboration: create meeting spaces; the exchange of knowledge, collaboration and trustworthy constructions to build synergy between the different actors in the construction value chain and related industries.
  • Training: have qualified professionals, technicians and operators to carry out projects to incorporate a circular economy in the construction sector.
  • Regulatory framework: solve information asymmetries regarding regulatory framework and strengthen the collaboration between the public and private sectors for a regulatory development.
  • Benchmarking and Dissemination: provide access to cases, data and indicators to encourage the incorporation of Circular Economy concepts both in the supply/procurement chain and in the early stages of design, construction and operation.
  • Innovation: generate bonding moments between companies, academia and the entrepreneurial ecosystem to promote innovation in circular economy.
  • Incentives: generate incentives that allow the private sector to cultivate a Circular Economy culture.
