Contaminated soils represent, for most countries, an environmental and economic challenge that can reach important proportions.

Currently Chile does not have a soil law that determines the baseline regarding the proper management of sites and their remediation, and according to a study by the Ministry of the Environment (MMA), the main soil contaminants are hydrocarbons, arsenic, lead , cadmium and mercury, among others.
