The first version of the Circular Economy Roadmap was submitted to a public consultation by the Ministry of the Environment almost six months ago. Today, with a new focus on circularity and not as much on recycling, it aims to reinforce the regulatory solutions that the industry needs, as well as incorporate the possibility of creating specific roadmaps with sectors and territories taking into account their respective differences.

This final version was approved by the council of ministers for sustainability and, in general terms, maintains the same objectives of the original proposal: to generate 100,000 new jobs by 2030 through circular economy and increase this to 180,000 by 2040; to reduce the generation of municipal solid waste per capita 10% by 2030 and 25% by 2040; to recycle this waste at a rate of 30% by 2030 and 65% by 2040, among others.

These objectives are aligned with EPR laws when encouraging the design and creation of circular distribution systems, promoting lifestyles and sustainable consumption decisions. In addition, regarding territories and regions, this final Roadmap aims to "channel investment and productive development efforts within the framework of economic reactivation towards triple impact and high potential circular economy projects", thus intending to advance in the development of secondary markets, focusing on productive sectors and priority material flows for each region.

We, at Hidronor, support this progress initiative and contribute with our management to the fulfillment of the goals established in issues concerning circular economy.
